some ch-ch-ch-changes

(Hi-O from Oregon!)Turns out my scale is wonky. True story. It goes something like this:Friday: 187lbsSaturday: 186lbsSunday: 185lbsMonday: 184lbsTuesday: 184lbsWednesday: 183lbs (but then 20 seconds later it was 184lbs, then 183lbs, then… wait for it… 185lbs)Not really sure what to think, but today on my parents’ scale I was 183, so I’m guessing our scale isn’t that far off.4lbs in a week, y’all. Pretty cool, eh? First week loss can be exciting, but not necessarily the norm for the rest of the time on the plan. Just in case, I have added back in some more calories so that I don’t drop weight too quickly. We want to make sure that my body still has what it needs to nurse OBrother.Let’s talk about the other ch-ch-ch-changes I’ve gone through!I am down to 1600-1800 calories a day (keep in mind that I’m burning calories nursing). I have no idea how many I was eating before, but I can tell you that I have not been hungry at all on this plan. I also know that when I have had the munchies, I have simply been making better choices. Some pictures of my meal choices lately:{olive oil, chicken breast, mushrooms, grape tomatoes, spinach, and a Swanson’s vegetable flavor boost packet}{spinach salad with green bell pepper, grape tomatoes, scallions, almonds, and low fat balsamic vinaigrette}(I clearly had spinach and grape tomatoes that I needed to use up before going out of town.)I am thankful that the Medifast meals have kept me full and I can tell that the gradual consumption of my calories spread out over 6 meals a day removes the urge to stuff myself in a single sitting. Other than travel yesterday, I have not felt the desire (or ability, even) to eat an over-sized portion of food.I’d call that a step in the right direction.I have also had great amounts of energy, have increased my water intake to 80oz a day (which is really important because I’m breastfeeding), and have been choosing bananas or clementine oranges when I crave a sweet snack. Those are all great ch-ch-ch-changes from how I was before deciding to do the Medifast plan. So the meals. How are they?Good. Really, I mean that. I have found 2 meals that I’ve not been a fan of – the chocolate shake and the vanilla pudding – but I was recently talking to another Medifaster who blends her chocolate shake with ice and adds some instant coffee to make herself a ‘medifrapiccino’. Hi, that’s genius. I plan on trying that when I get home. My favorites so far have been the Peanut Butter Crunch bar (OBoy was down right offended that I didn’t share mine with him when he saw me eating it), the parmesan cheese puffs, the banana pudding, and the tomato soup.On this trip I have packed a lot of the bars and ‘snacks’ (cheese puffs, pretzel bites, etc.) to be able to eat on the run (and all of them are delicious). I have been able to follow the plan with minimal effort, even while in an airport or on a plane for 7hrs straight yesterday.Color me impressed.:: :: :: Let’s chat. :: :: ::What simple changes have you made to feel healthier?:: :: :: :: :: ::Want to join me this year on Medifast? If you use the coupon code, OFAMILY56, and sign up for Medifast Advantage, when you order $250+, you’ll receive 56 free Medifast Meals and free shipping! (More details below.)Disclosure: I receive free product in order to evaluate and comment on my experiences on the Medifast Nursing Mothers Program.
